MUMBAI: Anoushka Shankar will perform a live concert at the 12th Girona Festival of World and Sacred Music on 3 July in Spain.
The world-premiere event will also be available as a live streaming concert on medici.tv and www.deutschegrammophon.com at 10 pm and will be archived to be streamed for 90 days on these sites.
The event will present a preview of the music from her forthcoming Deutsche Grammophon album ‘Traveller’, produced by Javier Lim??n. The album under DG label is scheduled for release in October along with tours in Europe, India and US.
At the concert, Anoushka Shankar will be accompanied by Indian and flamenco musicians including Sandra Carrasco (vocals),Pirashanna Thevarajah (percussion), Ramon Porrina (percussion), Sanjeev Shankar (shehnai), Alvaro Antona (flamenco guitar), Padma Shankar (violin), Shalini Patnaik (Indian classical dancer), Kenji Ota (tanpura) along with special guest Pepe Habichuela (flamenco guitar), Pedro Ricardo Mi?±o (flamenco piano).
The project, which Anoushka calls a â€?raga flamenco journey’, originated with her wish to retrace the 1000-year-old bond between Indian and Spanish musical traditions.
