MUMBAI: Barely a few days after winning Sony Entertainment Televisions’ ‘Indian Idol Junior’, Ananya Nanda is already planning her playback career in Bollywood. Just like the show’s judges, she too believes that Nahid Afrin and Nithyashree Vekataramanan (the runners-up), and she will one day, sing for the big screen.
However, more than being over confident about breaking into Bollywood, the young talent is hopeful of it. Should she get the opportunity to sing for tinsel town, she would like to work with, Vishal- Shekhar, Salim-Sulaiman and A.R. Rahman. “It is my dream to sing for Rahman Sir,” an excited Nanda revealed. She also said that she would like to be the playback voice for some of her favourite Bollywood actresses, including Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha, who was a judge on the show.
Despite being abundantly talented, the little wonder credits her music teachers on the show for her victory. “I feel maybe it is because of them that I have won the show. I will never forget the lessons that they have taught me. These will stay with me forever. Anand Sharma sir has spent a lot of time training us. He never made me feel like I was away from home. It was more like learning from my music teacher back home in Orissa,” confessed the young singer.

Nanda also feels that she has graduated as a singer in the last three months. “There is a lot of difference in the way I sing now. I know techniques, something that I did not understand well earlier. This will help me throughout my life,” said the winner who is taking a lot of learning back home.
Time and again, Nanda has been praised for her voice on the Idol platform. But when asked what she thought about her own voice, she averred, “I have a unique voice. I like my voice because I can sing different kinds of songs. I can sing rock and classical songs. I manage to modulate really well, so it makes me happy to have this voice.”
