MUMBAI: The star of the millennium, Amitabh Bachchan who crooned ‘Kyun Re’ for his upcoming thriller ‘Te3n’ does not like singing in front of everyone as he considers himself a self-conscious man. But there is a studio in the city that makes him feel most comfortable. This studio is late music composer Aadesh Shrivastava’s. Big B sits quietly with a recordist he knows in this studio and records for songs.

“As I do not like singing in front of everyone, I go to the studio ( Aadesh Shrivastava’s studio) that I am familiar with,” explains the superstar.

Very few know about this megastar’s friendship with the music composer who passed away after a tough battle with cancer last year.  Bachchan had also expressed his grief on his blog after Aadesh’s sudden demise. He wrote,”Aadesh Shrivastava passed away. I lived my music with him. I live without him now and perhaps my music too.”

Despite their 22-year-old age gap, the duo shared a strong friendship and Big B used to visit Aadesh’s studio late at night. The two used to work on new tunes and sing.  Aadesh is now gone, but the actors love for his late friend and his studio have remained intact. Mr. Bachchan still visits his studio to record for his film songs.

The 73-year-old actor believes singing to be a frightening activity, moreover he does not consider himself a singer. The film’s music-director Clinton Cerejo has a different take on Big B’s singing: “The world knows Mr. Bachchan for his baritone. His character in the film is someone broken and vulnerable. It was a huge responsibility for me to make Mr. Bachchan sing the particular song and at the same time, keeping in mind his legacy.  Therefore, Amitabh Bhattacharya (lyricist) and I wanted to represent a completely different side of Mr.Bachchan and yes, the result has come out beautifully. “

Bachchan had to re-record ‘Kyun Re’ as music composer Clinton rejected his first recording. Narrating the entire incident in a hilarious manner the actor confessed how he succumbed to pressure put on him by director Ribhu Dasgupta to record in Clinton’s presence.  “When you are trying hard to avoid someone sitting in front of you and it happens- Clinton sitting on a 6-inch gap from my face,” said Bachchan.

Clinton tried helping Big B overcome his fear of singing in others presence, but the thought continued to terrify him.  In fact, at the end of the recording he felt that he sang horribley. “The song version that you heard is machine’s version and not my version.  I sang very besura” said Big B in a mirthful manner.

Although, Big B thinks his singing is impromptu Clinton indeed placed it rightly, “This man is worth multiple listens”.

His song from the film possibly gives you goosebumps.
