MUMBAI: Every Indian Idol fan is surely aware of singer, actor and contestant of the first Season 1 of this popular reality show, Amit Tandon. Amit, who after signing a few songs turned to acting in daily soaps, has now returned to the indie music scene with his latest song, Checkmate.

Released under Zee Music Company’s YouTube channel, the song marks Amit’s comeback after a long-hiatus of 10 years.
Speaking about Checkmate, excited Amit said, “The track is quite current and relevant and has a chill vibe to it, which can resonate with the party goers and group of friends who go on long drives. Also featuring Amit, who has crooned this pop party number, Checkmate has female vocals of Rimi Nique. The music video is directed by Bups Saggu, who is a UK based Superstar DJ and Music producer. The catchy tune of the song, which is blended with contemporary Hindi and Punjabi lyrics, is one of the key highlights of this part number. The video has garnered over 96k views on YouTube.
Meanwhile, Amit Tandon has a pipeline of songs in place with his next original, a soft romantic number releasing in the first week of May.
