MUMBAI: Playback singer Amit Mishra, fame of the hit track ‘Bulleya’ from ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, has gained popularity over the years in Bollywood, delivering popular songs like ‘Manwa Emotion’, ‘Sau Tarah Ke’ among others. In a meet and greet session called Hungama Spotlight held at the new Hungama office in Kurla, Amit Mishra sang his latest track ‘Radio’ from ‘Tubelight’ and also said that he didn’t get a chance to meet Salman Khan but enjoyed the recording process.
The Lucknow singer also shared his inputs when asked about his thoughts on artist shelf life, he said, “A lot of artists have proved that there is no such thing as a shelf life for an artist. If I work with the same patience, enthusiasm and discipline towards my work, I am sure I will sustain till the end of my life. Take, for example, Sir Suresh Wadekar, we still listen to his music, we still go to his concerts. This is something common in Hindi and English music, where we indulge and appreciate music delivered by artists who have been singing long before us. Music is a celebration of lifetime and hence I believe artists have no shelf life.”
The 27-year-old singer has been working with Pritam Chakraborty and Amitabh Bhattacharya in the past and has done playback for actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and now Salman Khan. The versatile singer has sung songs of various genres and started his singing career with lending his voice to television serials and advertisement jingles. Amit Mishra added that he is in favour of recreation of old songs and said, “I believe that with recreations, a song can never end. Music has the power of igniting an emotion in us and whoever is recreating it is giving a new life to the same song. The sound now has developed with time and so have the gadgets we use for production of songs. It does become a commercial model, but however, at the end, it is all about enjoying music and is recognition for the artist who originally sang the song.”
