MUMBAI: The 2015 American Music Awards was filled with ‘wow’ and ‘oops’ moments, and some great performances that began with host of the night- Jennifer Lopez putting on a dance number. It also had a very steamy moment between Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth, who shared a kiss, leaving everyone wondering whether the ‘Marvin Gaye’ hitmakers are together. Despite all this, the main highlight of the AMAs remained the winners of the night.
British boyband ‘One Direction’ turned out to be the biggest winners of the night, taking home ‘Artist Of The Year’, which they won last year as well, and ‘Favourite Pop/Rock duo Or Group Award’. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, who has 16 career AMAs to her name, won three awards after being nominated in six categories. She took home titles for ‘Song Of The Year’ (Blank Space), ‘Favourite Album – Pop/Rock’ (1989) and ‘Favourite Artist – Adult Contemporary’.
In the album categories ‘Favourite Album Country’ went to Florida Georgia Line for ‘Anything Goes’. Others that were nominated in this category included Sam Hunt for ‘Montevallo’ and Jason Aldean for ‘Old Boots, New Dirt’. Hunt went on to win ‘New Artist Of The Year Award’.

‘Anaconda’ hit-maker Nicki Minaj won ‘Favourite Album – Rap/Hip-Hop’ for ‘The Pinkprint’, which faced competition from J. Cole and Drake. Another album winner was The Weeknd, who took home Favourite Album- Soul/ R&B for ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’. He also won Favourite Male Artist while, Rihanna won Favourite Female Artist.
