MUMBAI: All Starr Jamm was back for its monthly gig on 11 June in Jack N Jones in Santacruz with a new set of headlining ‘JAMMSTARRS’ to celebrate the series’ second anniversary.
The latest edition of the series presented independent artistes like Arijit Datta (Airport), Vasuda Sharma (singer/songwriter from Delhi), Zarir Warden (The Other People) and Nathalia. The city witnessed another great night of an array of musical genres performed by the exceptional musicians.
The jamming session opened with Arijit Datta’s original track ‘Abhi Toh’ with Zohran Miranda (guitars), Karan Joseph (keyboard), Chirayu (bass guitar) and Ashwin Andrew (drums). The track got the crowd moving to its funk-pop tunes. The group was then joined by Vasuda Sharma who is known for her highly influenced jazz/classical compositions and the lead vocalist of ‘The Other People’, Zarir Warden. While playing their original tracks, they also included medleys of song covers like ‘Fix You’ by Coldplay and ‘500 Miles’ by The Proclaimers.

The set was followed by Brazilian actor/model Nathalia Pinheiro who works in India and goes by the name Nathalia Kaur in the country. The sensational performance given by Kaur was her debut act in India at Jack and Jones.
When Arijit Datta and the accompanying stars came back on stage, the crowd cheered and requested Datta’s ‘Airport’ track ‘Aye Dil Suna’ to be performed. The group obliged leaving only when the audience was satisfied. Datta’s compositions were evidently the most popular sets of the evening.
The organiser and the brain behind the conception of the ‘jamming’ session is Sameer ‘Daddy’ Malhotra. On the idea behind the series, he says, “A jamming session is the only way you can bring together completely different independent artistes to throw a show together. ‘Jack and Jones’ gives us a platform to offer contrasting genres to the people on a single stage.”
Malhotra was content with how the session turned out and believed the show was a success. The audience seemed to be enjoying the show, grooving and rocking to the beats till late after midnight to Jehan aka M.A.N’s mixes.
All Starr Jamm is known to have brought to stage artistes like Monica Dogra (Shaa’ir and Func), Shilpa Rao (the Dewarists), hindi rock band Agnee and many more in the past.
