LAS VEGAS: What has the ‘Chammak Challo’ hitmaker been busy with? We are talking about musical genius Akon who lived with Shah Rukh Khan years ago to produce the memorable single and went on to win a special place in the hearts of Indians.
Well Akon was at the CES in Las Vegas on 4 January 2016 and Radioandmusic.com got a chance to have a chat with the man who last year hopped on board innovative flexible display, flexible sensors, smart devices company Royole Corporation as its chief creative officer after meeting its young chairperson Bill Liu at 4 am in a hotel reception area.

Akon, says he has been very busy. For the last five years, he has been working on energy solutions – how to “tap the energy from wheels that are turning”. Moreover, he has been busy studying technology, gaming, virtual reality, and the way forward for the music business. Also, he has very much been into music too – writing, composing and producing.
Set for release next week is a new single and an album featuring 40 songs, the album features ‘gamification’ – in that, users will get to listen and watch the different songs after completing some tasks. “I have been focusing on four genres – Hip-hop, deep house, reggae, and pop,” he said.
He is also excited about an EP album, which is set to be released in India alone in 2017 – and songs from that will be placed in different Bollywood films. “I am looking for a telecom partner for the same,” he said. “It could be Reliance which I worked with earlier. Or it could be another company”
Nevertheless, what obsessing Akon is virtual reality and Royole’s product The Moon, – a foldable, portable, and compact 3D virtual mobile theatre complete with noise-cancelling headphones. For him being associated with Royole is a dream come true for him, as he was looking for innovation all the time.
This apart, he is reportedly talking to Shah Rukh Khan to set up a platform to produce VR Bollywood movies. “It’s early days yet. But I want to go deeper into India as the market is an exciting one,” said he before signing off.
