MUMBAI: Music service- Wynk Music, which is operated by mobile service provider- Airtel, has crossed staggering figures of 12 million in downloads, in a little over 12 months since its launch. Apart from Airtel users, the service has over two-third of downloads coming from non-Airtel consumers. The app also announced today that it would be launching a Windows version, which will add to its growing number of users.
Currently, Wynk witnesses 5 million music streams and downloads per day. App users spend over five hours, on average, every month enjoying songs from Wynk.
The music service has also managed to customise its app according to the needs of users, who are dependent on 2G for data consumption, with new features like 2G performance optimisation and ‘save data’ mode for up to 70 per cent data saving. For non-Airtel consumers, the service has started a new offer of ad-free music, and free downloads for the first month.

Wynk Music, which also offers a subscription version ‘Wynk Plus’ that offers unlimited downloads, has also witnessed substantial growth due to Airtel’s data pack, the company said in a statement. Wynk Music CEO Kartik Sheth said, “The recent announcement of bundling Wynk Music subscription worth Rs. 99 with data plans from Airtel will go a long way in making music affordable and also help curb piracy for millions of music lovers in the country.
The company also stressed its library consists of two million HD songs (Indian and International) which is growing every day. Additionally, the service has also tied-up with over 500 music labels to increase its entire catelogue.
The award-winning app has a popular ‘Moods’ section, along with curated sections like Instrumental, Classics, Remixes, Flashback 90s and more for users to choose from.
The app, which has associated with Airtel Delhi Half Marathon in an exclusive tie-up, will also see the introduction of a new fitness feature soon.
Today, Wynk Music is present on Windows, Android, iOS and WAP.
