MUMBAI: University of Pune’s Community Radio Station, Vidyavani aired the Braille Webradio Dnyanadrushtiche Saadhak Aamhi’ (In pursuit of Knowledge) on 27 June, run and managed by the visually impaired students.
The programme is the station’s first live attempt with the visually impaired. It has previously aired pre recorded programs by them as well.
The show will become a regular affair on our station after 15 July. There will be four-five programmes in a month,… informs Vidyavani’s station director Anand Deshmukh.

The show is also scheduled to run on air on AIR in Pune. The creator of the program Satish Navale says, We are planning to air such shows on AIR apart from Vidyavani. We will broadcast a show on 5th September for Teacher’s Day. After October there would be weekly shows on AIR managed by these visually impaired students with help from the sighted students….
The content of the programme would include a blend of integrated educational programmes as well as entertainment in the form of games and quizzes.
Navale also plans to start a community radio station for and by the visually impaired. Our future plans include starting our own community radio station though things are materialized as yet….
