NEW DELHI: All India Radio (AIR) will join Doordarshan in covering live the Yoga Demonstration by around 40,000 persons on International Yoga Day on 21 June.
The event will be broadcast live from 6:30 am on the Rajdhani Channel (MW 450.5 Mtrs., 666 Khz) and FM Gold Channel 106.4 Mhz.
Later at 10:55 am, AIR will broadcast live the inaugration of the International Yoga Conference function from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on the Rajdhani Channel and FM Gold Channel.

AIR had broadcast a special symposium on ‘Vishwa Phalak Par Yog’, organised in Delhi to mark the occasion on Indraprastha Channel and FM Rainbow India Channel 102.6 Mhz. at 9:30 pm on 20 June. The seminar was held on 16 June before an invited audience at the Morarji Desai National Institute for Yog in the capital and had eminent exponents of Yoga, scholars, medical practitioners, and scientists speaking about the various aspects of Yoga and its importance.
The symposium was addressed by Institute Director lshwar V. Basavreddy, Dr Rajkumar Yadav, professor of Physiology Department in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi; Swamy Ananata Bharati, octogenarian director of Swami Kesavanand Institute of Yoga, New Delhi; and Dr D Mazumdar, a prominent scientist from the Nuclear Medicine Department of INMASS. The speakers also demonstrate Yoga and interacted with the audience.
Earlier in the week, the AIR National Channel also organised a half-day Yoga Session on “Self Healing and Stress Management” in collaboration with Dhyan Foundation to mark International Yoga Day.
Dhyan Foundation is a charitable organisation formed by students of Yogi Ashwini in the year 2002 to spread the awareness of Yoga benefits. It is managed and run by volunteers from different spheres of public life like doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, journalists and home makers.
Speaking on the occasion, AIR Deputy Director General, B D Mohanty said, “Yoga as part of ancient Indian tradition has benefited people across the world cutting the barriers of age, nationality, sex, and ethnicity. In the age of globalisation, Yoga is attributed to its holistic treatment of body, mind and soul backed by scientific findings and expert opinion”. The participants at the session include distinguished volunteers, professionals and students. Nikita Anand, former Miss India Universe, also participated.
