NEW DELHI: A sum of Rs 506.78 crore was incurred by All India Radio (AIR) over the last three years towards digitisation of its infrastructure.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Rathore, told the Parliament that the impact of digitisation includes reception of better quality of sound through FM receiver and covering more uncovered areas by expansion of AIR FM Services.
It will also increase access to AIR’s popular channels on internet and availability of AIR’s News on mobile through applications (apps) on different platforms like Android, iOS, BlackBerry etc.

Rathore said that AIR’s 21 channels will also become available on all the direct-to-home platforms with greater clarity throughout the country.
