A R Rahman reschedules Jai Ho after mishap

MUMBAI: A recent statement released by A R Rahman mentions that the dates of his North American Tour have been rescheduled. “All remaining dates for the North American leg will be rescheduled due to the incident. The tour will resume on 16 July in Zurich.”

On 19 June, A R Rahman was forced to cancel his show in Detroit due to an infrastructure collapse at The Pontiac Silverdome which damaged the set. While no one was seriously injured, the damage of the set meant the show couldn’t have been presented with all its integral components.

Rahman explained why he had to postpone the dates.

“The vision for the show includes beautiful choreography and circus acts and it feels less than, not to include them. All the world over, the show has received a very positive response from those who have seen it, which makes it absolutely necessary for us to present a complete show and feature all the components that were lost due to the incident. We are working to recoup all that has been lost (the lights, the sets) which will take us over three weeks to complete.”

However, exact dates for the North American leg are yet to be confirmed. “We have decided to postpone the remaining dates of the North American leg of this tour and will reschedule them at a later date. We will go ahead with the concerts scheduled in Europe and UK. That is the best option we have, considering the circumstances.”
