MUMBAI: Hailed as India’s first boy band, A Band Of Boys made the audience get up and groove along during their performance at The Worli Festival 5.0 in Mumbai. The two day fest, held on 26-27 January 2018 at the Worli Seaface promenade, was organised by Sangita and Sachin Ahir in association with Shri Sankalp Prtisthasan.
The band comprising of Sherrin Varghese, Chintu Bhonsle and Karan Oberoi, not only played their popular songs, but also sang some famous numbers from the 90s era, thus bringing back the nostalgia of the period when indie music ruled hearts. The entire arena was lit up with smiles as everyone joined the boys, who crooned their famous numbers. Not only Mumbaikars but also people, who had come from other parts of the world, joined the trio’s high-energetic performance.
Prior to their performance, the band revealed, “We are going to perform a lot of our old songs. We will also be releasing our new song today and we will be performing it live for the first time in front of the audience at The Worli Festival 5.0. The song is called Chori We are hoping that everyone loves it.”

Karan Oberoi also said, “Like Sherrin said, we are doing all originals as we rarely get to it since our band is known for our energetic performances. We hardly get an opportunity to sing a mellow song. So, today our lineup is completely original, which is a great feeling for us as an artist to be able to sing our own songs.”
A Band of Boys also showcased their upcoming single, Chori at the event, which they call a rhyming word to their earlier 2002 hit, Gori. From the visuals, seems like the boys are all set to bring their stylish indie pop era back. Their energy is indeed same as they exuberated years back!
Besides, the boys thanked as well as requested the audience to keep alive the indie pop music era.
One of the band members, Chintu Bhonsle said, “Today to YouTube and social media platforms, you guys can listen to and promote independent music. We independent musicians depend on you.”

On their association with The Worli Festival 5.0, Chintu Bhonsle exclaimed, “Well our association goes long way back. We have performed as well as been associated on a large scale in some form or the other. It’s always a pleasure to perform here. The crowd is drawn towards the music. They come and watch you and actually want your songs. The venue is fabulous and it is actually a great effort of putting together of commerce, music, art and independent artists in specific.”
To this, Karan added, “It’s a perfect blend of art and music and the place says it all.”
Sherrin also said, “It’s a great sense of community and it’s quite evident in the way they patronise the stores, sit patiently and listen to the artist.”
“We thank Sachin and Sangeeta Ahir, Sankal Prtishtan and Rahul Gomez for putting this festival together,” the band concluded.
Meanwhile, not just 90s kids, but every person present was mesmerized as well as enjoyed the performance of A Band of Boys, who closed the fifth edition of The Worli Festival, held on 26-27 January 2019.
