MUMBAI: Following the launch of Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) 9X in the UK, INX Media has launched its Hindi music channel 9XM on BSkyB.
9XM is available on EPG slot 828 of the British direct-to-home (DTH) carrier as a free-to-air channel from 17 August.
INX Media founder and CEO Indrani Mukerjea said, “We are delighted that 9XM has become the second channel from INX Media to be available in the UK.”
English news channel NexsX is also planning to launch on the BSkyB platform.
9XM had reached number one position in the music channel genre within three weeks of its launch in October 2007.
There are no VJs on the music channel but it has animated characters like Chote-Bade, Bheegi Billi and Betel Nuts.
“We are confident that this first-of-its-kind channel will do a repeat of its performance in India to capture the spirit of youth and become a cult music channel in the UK too,” said Mukerjea.
