MUMBAI: While Bollywood is reeling under the sudden demise of Yash Chopra, 9X Jalwa has decided to pay a tribute to the ‘king of romance’ through dedicated programming on 22-23 October.
The founder of Bollywood’s premier banner, Yash Raj Films, and perhaps the most powerful movie mogul, Chopra was known for directing movies like Damini, Darr, Lamhe, Chandni and more where music was always a hallmark.
Living up to his legacy, the channel will air special programs today, including a ‘Yash Chopra One Hour Tribute’ from 9-10 pm with some of his classic melodies from Silsila, Kabhi Kabhi, Darr, Veer Zaara and Waqt. It will be followed by ‘Jalwa Jubilee Tribute’ at 10 pm that will feature a special interview of the mogul by his favourite romantic hero Shah Rukh Khan. The program will also air the track ‘Challa’ from his last directorial venture ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, which is slated to release on 13 November.
9X Jalwa will also feature a special ‘Jalwa Remembers & Biography’ of the late director apart from airing 10 second promos on him throughout the day.
On 23 October, the channel will air special tracks from 9-11 am and 10-11 pm paying tribute to the multifaceted legend.
Aged 80, Chopra passed away on Sunday evening following multi-organ failure. From the past one week he was being treated for dengue at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra.
His body has been brought to Yash Raj Studios to pay last respects, and the last rites will be held today at 3 pm in Pawanhans crematorium.
