The term”Sadhana” implies regimen, commitment, adherence, and complete surrender to perfecting a task. A woman is a compendium of these traits. She amalgamates, creates, and enhances to enrich the lives of others. Selflessness is her supreme trait for which she forfeits her “aham” or ego and involves herself completely to enrich the lives of others. In this context, a true musician is one who up surrenders to the vibrations of naad completely, this synergy is realized only after years of Sadhana where the jivatma merges with the parmatama. A woman, likewise, is innately blessed with this divine trait, to merge effortlessly for common good. The foundation attempts to celebrate this unique dimension in women, through three vidushis, the channel being the unique “Naad.”
Dr. Jyoti Iyer- Trustee Iyer Foundation says there was a time when Tabla, Pakhawaj, Sarangi, Flute, and Sarod were instruments considered to be practiced by men only. In the last twenty-plus years, it has been observed that many women musicians have taken these instruments seriously and yielded fabulous performances. The main motto of Saadhna-Festival is to bring such women musicians into the limelight by providing them with platform opportunities.
