MUMBAI: The voice behind the iconic supergroup from the 1990s Mr. Big – Eric Martin – will perform a new set for the first time in India. Eric Martin fronted the California-based quartet that dominated the American and European markets through the 1990s.
The tour begins with a performance at Café Live and Loud in Gangtok on 29 October. Dimapur’s Naithu Resort will host the famed iconic frontman of Mr. Big on 1 November. Martin will end his first leg of the North-east tour with a performance Naga Heritage Village in Nagaland as he would head down to Dubai for a show in The Music Room. Two consecutive gigs at Phoenix Market City (Mumbai and Chennai) on Nov 5 and Nov 6 will follow the musician’s Dubai performance on 3 November. In Bengaluru, The Humming Tree replaced the original venue Crown Ampitheatre for the voice behind ‘To Be With You’. Hard Rock Café Delhi will host the 56-year-old’s set on 10 November.
Martin would take another detour from India for a single gig in Kathmandu before returning to the North east for the second leg. The former Mr. Big vocalist will conclude the tour with performances on 15, 17, 18 and 19 November in Aizawl, Imphal, Guwahati and Shillong respectively.

Martin arrived to the music scene in the late 70s by forming a band called ‘415’. A few years later, Martin released solo debut album. However, it was not until 1989 that Martin finally found worldwide fame. With the formation of Mr. Big a year before, comprising Billy Sheehan, Pat Torpey and Paul Gilbert, the super group soon started touring around the world.
The upcoming gig at Bengaluru’s live music home The Humming Tree would not be the musician’s first visit to the country. Martin and the band members (The Road Vultures) – then in his late 40s – performed in Shillong upon the King of Tripura’s invite. Martin, however, performed the iconic Mr. Big’s songs, accompanied by Indian Idol star Amit Paul, to a crowd of at least 20,000 people.
