MUMBAI: Singing isn’t a big deal anymore. Anyone and everyone can sing these days with a little help from ‘autotune.’ But, there are few, like, actress-singer, Alia Bhatt who can still do without the magical device.
Alia who is primarily an actress tried her hands at singing while shooting for Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway.’ Thus, her first song as a singer was ‘Sooha Saha.’ The song was composed by A.R. Rahman and Alia even took singing lessons before recording for the same.

Since then the actress hasn’t given her voice for any film in particular but she continues to sing at award functions – when requested. Though she did sing for the unplugged version of ‘Samjhawan’ from the movie ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.’

Her Voice: Alia has a melody in her voice that touches the listener’s heart instantly. Thus, we wonder why producers and music directors haven’t convinced the budding industry talent to sing more.
Tagging herself as a ‘bathroom singer’: Given the quality of her voice Alia could have bragged about being a talented singer but she chooses to do it another way round. She calls herself a bathroom singer. We like her humble approach.
Always ready to sing: We are sure that Alia has forgotten the count on the number of times she has sung at a public gatherings and events. She is usually requested to sing a song at dos and the actress always picks up the mike with a smile and begins singing.
No background scores: Alia does not like having the background scores while she sings. Initially, she even called them to be distracting. But, on other occasions, she wants the press and her fans to know that she can sing for real.
Promotes movie songs by singing them: Pro side of having an actor that can sing is to have them promote your songs. And Alia Bhatt does not mind doing so. Especially, when it’s about treating her fans with a teaser of her upcoming song.
