4-day, 3-city Jazz Utsav 10 kicks off in Mumbai on Thursday

Mumbai: Jazz Utsav 10, formerly known as Jazz Yatra, a regular fixture in India since 1978, will be a 4-day event across Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi, featuring Larry Carlton, Ranjit Barot Group, Louiz Banks Matrixx Band and Jazzkomplott,  among others.

The artists and bands will be performing at Mumbai (Jamshed Hall, NCPA) on December 2-4, 2010, at Bangalore (Chowdiah Memorial) on December 4-5, 2010 and Delhi (FICCI Auditorium) on December 3-5, 2010. (3-city schedule here)

The performers are:

Larry Carlton: 3-time Grammy winner and 18-time Grammy nominee

Ranjit Barot Group: Featuring Tim Garland & Dominique Di Piazza

Jazzkomplott: Featuring Hannes Roessler (sax) Christina Lippert (guitar), Hendrik Krause (bass), Clemens Litschko (drums) and Konrad Litschko (piano).

The Louiz Banks Matrixx Band: Grammy nominee in 2008 for Best Contemporary Jazz Album

MST: Featuring Murcos (electronics), Talvin Singh (Tabla) and Erik Truffaz (Trumpet)

Giovanni Guidi Trio: Giovanni Guidi (piano), accompanied by drums and  double bass.

Mateusz Kolakowski Trio: Mateusz is a 23-year-old Jazz piano prodigy. He has toured the US and Europe extensively and has also played twice at The Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland. At age 14, he won the award for the â€?Most Promising Pianist’ at Martial Solal competition in Paris

Mari Kvien Brunvoll: A unique 20-year-old singer and multi-instrumentalist who gives spell-binding performances through a unique, modern sampling and layering technique.

Gumbo: Featuring  Kare Nymark Jr (trumpet), Even Kruse Skatrud (trombone), David Gald (tuba) and Kenneth Ekornes (percussion and drums)
