Whistling Woods International presents Inspiration 2012 -3rd Edition

MUMBAI: The enterprising students of Whistling Woods International – School of Media and Communication division today announced the third edition of ‘Inspiration’ in Mumbai at the WWI campus in Filmcity, Mumbai. In its third edition, ‘Inspiration’ will travel across 6 cities starting from Mumbai and then moving on to Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, New Delhi and Kolkata. 

‘Inspiration’ is an initiative by the MBA-media & Entertainment students of WWI that gives budding young minds an insight into the film, media and communication industry. It was created to inspire the upcoming generation to follow their passion and dream of joining the media industry by crossing the bridge of right kind of education to connect themselves with the world of media and entertainment. It serves to make them understand the importance of media and cinema education in a fast growing media industry. Inspiration is a media seminar where experts meet starters to share their light on Media, to help them understand the industry and give a boost to their journey in this massively growing profession.  

This year’s edition of Inspiration-Mumbai featured workshops on Digital filmmaking, Film Appreciation, Screenwriting and Chroma & lighting technique; as well as a comprehensive panel discussion on “IDEAS MAKE ICONS” that held a captive audience enthralled. Several aspects of the Broadcast industry, Journalism, Cinema, Events and PR industry, Advertising etc. were discussed by eminent panelists that comprised Subhash Ghai, Founder & Chairman, Whistling Woods International; Abhinay Deo, Filmmaker (Delhi Belly); Ismail Darbar, Musician; Irshad Kamil, Lyricist; Chandrima Pal, Entertainment Editor, Mumbai Mirror and Sonia Parasnis, Programming Head, Fever 104 .

Addressing the students, Ismail Darbar said, “It takes tremendous effort to establish an institute of this stature. I applaud Subhash ji for the work he has put in building up this school. You all are very fortunate to have such a powerful platform to showcase your talent.”

Subhash Ghai, Founder and Chairman, WWI, said in support of his students, “This is an initiative undertaken and executed solely by the WWI students. They want everyone to know exactly what the film, media and communication industry is all about. I’m very proud to support them in this initiative.”

Two young individuals at the top of their game in the media and communication industry, Huma Qureshi, Actor (Gangs of Wasseypur) and RJ Siddhu (104 FM) were awarded the ‘Young Achiever’ award at WWI’s Inspiration 2012 on 14th December 2012.

On receipt of this award, Huma Qureshi said, “I’m very honored to receive this award. I’m humbled that the students of Whistling Woods think of me as worthy to receive this award. I have very fond memories of Whistling Woods. I shot my very first TV commercial here and to receive an award here means a lot to me.”

The award ceremony was followed by an entertaining performance by DJ / the rock band. Students showcased tremendous talent through film-making and lighting workshops.

‘Inspiration’ started in November 2011, when 70 MBA students went around 16 cities of India in two months, to educate the youth of the country on various career opportunities in the media and communication industry. Over 140 speakers speaking across India, 38 young media achievers below 35 years of age each were awarded as ‘Young Communication Achievers’, and some 4600 youths participating across India. It was an impressive start to the nationwide series of multi city campaigns.

“This time too some 34 speakers are slated to speak in these six cities, at least 12 young achievers will be awarded, and more than 2000 youth will participate in the event series”, informs the Director of the Whistling Woods School of Media Communication, Mr. Shashidhar Nanjundaiah.
