Vocalist Parameshwar Hegde and Guitar Maestro Debashish Bhattacharya to perform at Gunijaan Baithak

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Lalit Kala Nidhi (MLKN), one of the most prestigious institutes engaged in the field of propagation of Indian Classical Music in association with Rangswar has organized a classical music concert Gunijaan Baithak, which will feature the Hindustani classical vocalist Parameshwar Hegde from Bangalore and Guitar Maestro Debashish Bhattacharya from Kolkata. Entry is Free for the concert.

The concert will be held at Main Auditorium of Y. B. Chavan Centre, Nariman Point on 19th March 2012 (Monday) at 6.30 p.m. Entry to the Gunijaan Baithak is free. The Gunijaan Baithak will begin with a Guitar Recital by Well Known Guitar Maestro Debashish Bhattacharya who is a disciple of Pandit Brijbhushan Kabra. Debashish has also received guidance from Vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. The evening will conclude with a Vocal Recital by outstanding Vocalist of Kirana and Gwalior Gharana Parameshwar Hegde a disciple of Pandit Basavraj Rajguru. Parameshwar Hegde hails from Bangalore.

Gunijaan is the pen name of legendary vocalist Padma Bhushan the late Pandit C. R. Vyas, who was the founder of Maharashtra Lalit Kala Nidhi (MLKN) along with the late Shri Vidyadhar Gokhale who was a famous play-write and journalist.

Maharashtra Lalit Kala Nidhi (MLKN) has been organizing several unique classical concerts throughout the country under the aegis of Santoor exponent Pandit Satish Vyas. The Gunijaan Baithak concert has been getting overwhelming response from the supporters of classical music ever since it was launched in May 2006 in Mumbai.

For more then 35 years MLKN has been organizing one of the most prestigious music festival namely Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan which is held every year in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.  Apart from Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan; MLKN has presented young artistes in collaboration with Institutions like NCPA in Mumbai and India International Centre in Delhi.
