MUMBAI: After over a year, multifaceted musician, Shri, best known for his traditional Indian style combined with rock, jazz, and drum â€?n’ bass will perform at the Kamani Auditorium in Delhi as part of the Delhi International Arts Festival. In this performance he collaborates with Carnatic classical maestro and mandolin player, U.Srinivas who also happens to be a reputed member of the Western Orchestra.
About the upcoming performance, Shri says, While we have set a few things and a few directions, there will be a lot of improvisation through the night…. However, he promises the night will be an eclectic collection of sounds and beats, mixing different genres, from Carnatic classical to Hindustani classical and from Drums to Electronica. Also forming an important part of the music will be chords, textures and sounds that you wouldn’t normally imagine coming out of the bass.
Venue: Kamani Auditorium
Date: 7th December 2010
Time: 6:30 pm
The duo will be accompanied by Marc Bennett, Shri’s drummer from London and Miles Ashton.
British Council has brought together the collaboration between Shri and U.Srinivas. British Council believes that collaboration between artists is a great way to start dialogue between the two countries.
