MUMBAI: Reliance Broadcast Network Limited’s intellectual property vertical BIG Live and its radio arm 92.7 BIG FM,the Golden Mikes’ Broadcaster of the Year announced the names of the esteemed jury members for the BIG Bangla Music Awards 2012 which include timeless veteran singers Nirmala Misra and Banasree Sengupta, acclaimed Music Director Kalyan Sen Barat, distinguished Music Arranger Rocket Mondol, Programming Head of Dhoom Music Channel, Srijit Halder and & acclaimed Actor Arpita Chatterjee.
The Award lineup this year will have a total of 16 Trophies and the Lifetime Achievement Award. 14 popular categories will be nominated by the jury and thereafter decided by listeners through a multi media voting campaign. The Balance 3 Awards will be conferred by the honourable Jury directly.
Apart from celebrating the resurgence of Bangla music and recognizing the best work of the year 2011, a key initiative will be to highlight the message of anti piracy to music lovers and build awareness to stop the menace. This noble effort is being supported by the Govt of India recognized body IPRS ( Indian Performing Rights Society ) as well as leading production houses, notably Asha Audio.
A special anti piracy theme song is being composed by leading rocker and Cactus frontman Sidhu ( Siddhartha Shankar Ray) and the lyrics for this are being penned by none other than Anindya from the leading bangla band Cactus. This song will be sung for the first time Live on the stage of BIG Bangla Music Awards by the collection of leading artistes who shall be participating at the Grand Finale. Thus making this an anthem kind of spectacle in an effort to win the hearts and imagination of the youth to curb piracy.
As the pioneering and Biggest Musical Award in Bengal, it is fitting for special contributions to be recognized on this platform. The resurgence of popular Bangla music and its huge impact on Tollywood is best exemplified by the works and rise of the phenomena called Jeet Gannguli. It is with this in mind that 92.7 BIG FM has chosen him to be the Face of the Award 2012.
