MUMBAI: The Echo Nest, a music intelligence platform powering smarter apps across the web and devices, has partnered with LyricFind, the world’s leading provider of legal song lyrics, giving developers an easy way to add song lyrics to their apps.
LyricFind’s lyrics are now part of The Echo Nest’s Rosetta Stone, a first-of-its-kind platform that helps technologies from a variety of music services work together smoothly. For example, developers can now include accurate LyricFind lyrics alongside music from Rdio, tweets from a particular artist on Twitter, concert tickets from Seatwave, and links to the appropriate Facebook pages. All of those services, and more, are now integrated with Rosetta Stone.
This groundbreaking deal between LyricFind and The Echo Nest makes it orders of magnitude easier for developers to include legally-licensed lyrics for nearly two million tracks, globally. LyricFind recently became the first lyrics service to ink worldwide deals with all four major publishers, enabling developers to offer resulting applications in every app store in the world.
LyricFind’s Rosetta Stone integration works with massively popular apps as well as smaller projects from independent developers. Ad-supported apps can offer the lyrics for free, with revenue going to LyricFind or for a share of revenue in the case of high-volume apps. Enterprise partners, hardware manufacturers, web sites and web apps have a variety of licensing options for integrating LyricFind to display lyrics, including both free and paid models.
Song lyrics are among the most sought-after content on the web, but developers lacked an easy way to add them to apps without striking one-off licensing deals. Thanks to LyricFind’s integration with The Echo Nest’s Rosetta Stone, we expect lyrics to become as popular within apps as they already are on the web.
