MUMBAI: The eve of Navratri, 15 October, turned out to be a remarkable day in the lives of the Mirchiites and Mumbaikars. The team of Radio Mirchi spearheaded by ‘Hi Mumbai’ show host Jeeturaaj and Mirchi listeners joined forces to help find a lost boy and return him to his safe haven.
On the morning of 15 October, while hosting his live morning show, Jeeturaaj received a call from a listener informing him about a seven-odd year old lost boy near Cadbury Station, Thane. The RJ and the station went into vigilant mode as they alerted the Thane police station and the traffic department to help locate the boy. The police station was soon inundated with a series of relentless calls and SMS-es from Mirchi Mumbai and countless Mirchi listeners. Following the proacrative approach taken by Jeeturaaj, the listeners and the police department, the child was safely taken back to the police station. Being a concerned citizen, Jeeturaaj visited the police station at Thane personally to enquire about the child’s safety and whereabouts and spoke to the officials there, after finishing the morning show in the Lower Parel studio.
Even before Jeeturaaj returned to the Lower Parel studio, the Mirchi reception received word from the police team who had called in to report that they had successfully traced the whereabouts of the boy and that he has been safely returned to his boarding school in Mumbra from where he had been missing since 9 October.

Subsequent to the successful endeavor, Radio Mirchi’s phone-lines, Twitter and Facebook pages were overwhelmed with congratulatory calls and messages. Thousands of Mirchi fans called in to appreciate the station and Jeeturaaj’s efforts to find the lost child.
An overwhelmed Jeeturaaj said, “This feels like the first day of my job as an RJ. I have rediscovered the power of radio today all over again, thanks to all my listeners. I feel immensely proud and humble at the same time that I could play a role in bringing a child to safety.”
