MUMBAI: The jury meet of “Fempowerment 2012” was held on the 23 August 2012 at Sahara Star Mumbai.
At the meet, the jury which included prominent names like Swanand Kirkire (National Award winning lyricist and recently seen on Satyamev Jayate), Mr Ridham Desai (MD, Morgan Stanley India), Shishir Joshi (Ex-Editor, TV Today group, Aaj Tak, and Mid-Day), Arun Rangachary (Chairman, Dar Capital and Dar Motion pictures ), MJF Lion Raju V Manwani (Multiple Council Chairman and International Head – Lions Club), chose winners from nominees in categories which included:

The ‘Lion’s Fempowerment Awards 2012′ honour the exemplary work of Women Achievers in their chosen field by recognising those who have demonstrated excellence in the professional life; personal life and are also role models for others in the industry.
Conceived to felicitate women who have made remarkable progress in their chosen fields regardless of the challenges they faced because of their gender. To brave long standing dogmas and constraints and break the glass ceiling, is not easy to say the least. However, some women have done so therefore become path breakers and inspiration to future generations.
The winners of “Lion’s Fempowerment Awards 2012” will be announced in a glittering award ceremony the highlight of which, apart from all the women achievers receiving the awards, is a spellbinding “Jugalbandi” of Akriti Kakar and National Award Winner Rekha Bharadwaj.
Ms.Kiren Shrivastav certainly believes so. Promoter of Fempowerment awards, Ms. Kiren Shrivastav says that her being a woman had a lot to do with wanting to recognize and award such women especially those who have become achievers through sheer grit and determination. Highlighting the role of woman achievers in the industry she said “Women today have brought laurels and are an inspiration for other women to follow. They also need to be motivated further by recognising their meritorious services”.
Lion Dhiraj Khandewal (DC Women Power Recognition, Lions Club) stated “Lions Club has always been supporting such initiatives not just to felicitate the women who have been path breakers in their time but also to encourage upcoming achievers.”
Mr. Arun Rangachary (Chairman Dar Capital and Dar Motion pictures) said “Fempowerment Award initiative is an important step in recognising and applauding the pivotal and inspirational role that women have always played in society. I hope that Fempowerment is institutionalised as an annual feature and that the categories are expanded over a period of time to become increasingly representative and relevant.”
Cheering ‘Fempowerment awards, Mrs. Abha Singh, Lead India Finalist & Director Postal Services Maharshtra & Goa, said “I always support initiatives like these which recognize women power that is ‘Fempower’”. So deeply she feels for these causes that she makes it a point to attend any event which encourages and awards women achievers.”
The Jury Meet concluded amicably having met everyone’s expectation. The Fempowerment Award Ceremony will be held on the 31st of August, 2012 at Rangsharda Hall, Bandra (W).
