MUMBAI: Raja Paranjape Pratishthan presents a unique two hour Audio-Visual, musical show that will bring alive the golden era of Marathi cinema, the decades of 1950s and 60s.The show will be held at Yashwant Natya Mandir Matunga, at 3.30 pm. Distinguished Guests including Seema Deo, Rajduttji , Shreedhar Phadake and Kaushal Inamdar will be present during the occasion.
Raja Paranjape’s films have always been known for their simple yet profound storylines, character roles, and also for the songs that have become part of every marathi household for more than five decades. Immortal songs like ‘Vikat ghetla shyam, Tya tithe palikade, Jag he bandishala, Jivalaga kadhi re yeshil tu and many others have been evergreen melodies, still vibrant in the marathi psyche.
The music show will present 25 songs from different films of Raja Paranjape. The songs will be linked by narration and selected video clips from his movies. The songs, narration and video clippings together attempt to highlight Raja Paranjape’s exceptional skills as a director and a master story-teller.

The songs will be presented by Saee Tembhekar, Palavi Bapat and Chaitanya Kulkarni, and will be accompanied by Prasanna Bam, Amit Kunte and Abhay Ingale. All of them are young artists who have emerged as promising new talent in the past 3-4 years. In a short time, they have established themselves as excellent performers and have won accolades from all over India and even abroad.
Raja Paranjape launched many actors in Marathi by giving them their first break. Notable examples include Sachin Pilgaonkar, Kashinath Ghanekar, Seema and Ramesh Deo, Raja Gosavi, amongst others. He always put faith in new talent and believed that they all had the potential to become great actors. In line with his continuing faith in the new generation, it would only be fitting to have a group of young musicians pay tribute to the legendary film-maker through their art.
