MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, Chennai hottest radio station kick started this festive season by organizing an innovative creative competition that involved the RJs and selected listeners decorating Ganesha’s at the Mirchi studios.
The preliminary induction started a week back where each RJ started recruiting their team of 5 people on-air. And during the course of the week all 6 teams with their team captains got together and decided on their unique theme to decorate the Vinayaka.
On Friday the 21st, these enthusiastic participants along with their team captain, the Mirchi RJs, started decorating their Vinayaka. After 2 hours of real hard work the participants were ready with their Vinayakar to be judged by Ms. Revathi Sankaran. The various Vinayaka’s that were on display were Global Warming Vinayaka by RJ Devasena’s team, Eco Friendly Vinayaka by RJ Ajai’s team, Sakala kala Vinayaka by RJ Shiv Sankari’s team, Director Vinayaka by RJ Adhavan’s team, Chef â€?n’ Musician Vinayaka by RJ Anjana’s team and Mirchi Gold RJ Vinayaka by RJ Sujata’s team.

With each theme being extremely good and very unique Ms. Revathi Sankaran had really tough time in deciding the final winner. In the end it was RJ Ajai and team’s Eco Friendly Vinayakar that won the competition. All the RJs were dressed in ethnic clothes to mark the occasion and the event culminated with a Ganesh Chaturti grand feast.
Speaking on the occasion Sandeep Sud, VP & Cluster Head TN – Radio Mirchi said – One of the key features of Radio as a medium that sets it apart from others is the instant and spontaneous interactivity that it offers the RJ with the listener. This contest was one such activity where the listeners and RJ formed teams and it was truly touching to see the enthusiasm and effort that the listeners took to be part of this event. The RJ also had the opportunity to interact with the listeners and plan a creative activity. Judging from the response, we are keen to do many more such innovative activities that will bring the RJs and listeners together….
