Punjab’s Kamal Khan is declared the winner of Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar

MUMBAI: India has chosen its Singing Superstar. Zee TV’s Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar – the Mecca of soulful singing witnessed a extraordinary night replete with glitz, glamour and Christmas festivities! As cool winds blew around the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai – the venue of the Grand Finale- the evening saw the who’s who of the music industry making their presence felt at the biggest musical event which declared Abhilasha/ Kamal/ Bisakh – the Singing Superstar of India! Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is a pioneer in creating musical excellence and setting a unprecedented benchmark on Indian television space for the past 15 years. This edition also proved that India is a powerhouse of young talent waiting to get that ideal platform to showcase their skill and competence. The Grand Finale was telecast LIVE on Zee TV on a wonderful Christmas evening of 2010.

To celebrate this occasion, Zee TV set the stage ablaze by getting the singing sensations of India together. Renowned artistes like Alka Yagnik, Jagjit Singh, Udit Narayan, Mithun Chakrabarty, Ratan Rajput, Jasveer Kaur, Shayantani Ghosh, Penaaz Masani, Geeta Kapoor and many more were also a part of this glorious moment.

The highlights of the evening as the Top 3 finalists battled their singing prowess for the winning title included Indi Pop Sensation Mika Singh, mentor Vishal Shekar, Sajid – Wajid and Daler Mehndi rocking performances. For the very first time on a TV finale, Ghazal maestro Ustaad Ghulam Ali Khan mesmerized the audience with his soulful ghazal renditions. Adding to the excitement was hip – hop fusion act put together by Mentor Rajiv Surti, who’s going to be making his foray in DID Doubles as one of the Masters along with Marzi Pestonji & Geeta Kapoor. Surti’s performance brought flavors of different dance forms in one act by this accomplished choreographer and his troupe. The Christmas spirit was brought alive by contestant Mugdha Hasabnis who popularized the Operatic style of singing amongst the masses. The act was replete with chorus singers singing Christmas carols, a humongous Santa, reindeers, gifts along with snowfall created on the sets. Mugdha enthralled the audience with her rendition â€?O Re Chori’.

Finalist Bisakh Jyoti rocked the stage with â€? Dil Se Re’, â€?Rock On’ and â€?Bheegi Bheegi Si Hai Raatein Bheegi Bheegi’. His Mentors Sajid and Wajid captivated the audience with the super hit numbers from the movies Dabangg and Wanted. The evening also saw finalist Kamal Khan sing â€?Upar Khuda, Lagan Lagi and Mast Kalandar’ that kept the crowd enthralled as they loudly cheered him after each performance. Next was mentor Daler Mehndi who delighted the audience with his performance on popular numbers like â€?Zor Ka Jhatka’, â€?Jhule lal’ and â€?Tunak Tunak Tun’. Abhilasha Chellum sang â€?Tu Chanda Main Chandni’, Dance Pe Chance’ and â€?Desi Girl’. Mentors Vishal and Shekhar brought the house down with lively performances on their latest chartbusting numbers from the movies Anjana Anjaani, I Hate Love Stories and Tees Maar Khan. The medley sung by all the 3 finalists was another scintillating performance that had the crowd dance & jump up with joy. The evening was anchored by witty and popular host Manish Paul who kept the audience in peals of laughter as he tickled their funny bone with his energetic and fun filled interactive moments.

The nineteen-week series of fierce competition between contestants belonging to various regions culminated in a magnificent star studded Grand Finale. The final battle between Kamal, Abhilasha and Bisakh, saw Kamal emerge as the winner of Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar. (Kamal, Abhilasha and Bisakh- one among the 3) walked away with a newly launched Grande MK II Car and a Hero Honda ZMR Bike. All the 3 finalists also got a one year Scholarship at A R Rehman’s K M Music Conservatory in Chennai to learn music. Bisakh, Kamal and Abhilasha walked away with Samsung LED TV’s as well.

Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar Grand Finale was surely 2010’s most unforgettable event. Over the years, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has given the country the magic of some outstanding performances, the excitement and curiosity during each elimination rounds as talented singers give it their best shot. The grandeur of each finale has been talked about for days and the show’s popularity has only peaked with time as the undisputed platform to bring exceptional musical talents on it. It’s an extremely emotional moment for all of us and we look forward to continue the musical journey with many more new concepts. The conclusion of â€?Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar’ will bring a fresh new season of Dance India Dance, called DID Doubles starting December 31st onwards, Friday- Saturday at 9.30 p.m.
