MUMBAI: Expelliarmus, Confundus, Episkey, Expecto Patronum… these may seem like jumbled-up words for most of the people, but not for the 283 children who turned up at Landmark, Spencer Plaza, Chennai recently to take part in the Harry Potter quiz organized by the store and Chennai Live 104.8 FM titled â€?Potter Mania’. RJ Tausif, who hosts Chennai Live 104.8 FM’s one of the more popular shows – The Quiz Show was the Quizmaster. Tausif managed to charm the children and parents alike without magic and just with his quizzing skill!
The quiz was open to children in the age group of 6 to 16 years. The preliminary round was conducted at Landmark, which was open to all the children who came to take part in the event. In order to qualify for the quiz, the children had to write down answers for the 25 questions that were given on the spot. Six children with the highest points were chosen from the lot to take part in the final. Wild card entries were also conducted through an on-air contest that was carried out on Chennai Live 104.8 FM one week prior to the quiz, where the listeners were asked a simple question. Two winners chosen from it got direct entry to the final round.
The eight finalists were divided into four houses – Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin of Hogwarts. After four really tough â€?Harry Potter-heavy’ rounds, team Ravenclaw – Mathura Samaram and Varshini G were declared winners. The winners walked away with exciting gift vouchers and Harry Potter DVDs.
