MUMBAI: Poco Loco, the cosy-yet-fine dining Mexican Restaurant adjacent to the Baga Creek will host International Jazz, Retro & Reggae Festival starting from this Saturday, 14th March 2012. The idea of this unique experience is to give International Jazz, Retro and Reggae musicians a weekly platform to perform before a discerning audience of music lovers, says Frank Franklyn – a DJ and musician himself – and the organizer of the weekend events. It started with Chris Diplock of RGBC who suggested that we do a regular performance each weekend. After some brain storming with the team that included Kamran Siddiqui, we decided to create a festival spread over 7 weekends of April and May. Each evening will see two performances with bands from different parts of the globe performing at Poco Loco. This is a part of the GoaWire Goa Music Festival and other musicians from different genres of music and from different parts of the world will also perform as guest performers.
Various forms or schools of Jazz will be part of the weekend specials including Indian classical fusion, Classic Jazz, Modern Jazz, Heritage Jazz, Hip-Hop, House Jazz, Commercial Retro, Classic and Heritage Reggae, Acid Jazz, Lounge and disco funk, 60’s Jazz, Hippie Jazz, etc.
