My FM celebrates WomenÆs Day with a play on women empowerment

MUMBAI: On the occasion of International women’s day, India’s local FM network My FM organized street theatre by Theatre-in-Motion around women empowerment at key media agencies in Delhi namely, Lodestar and Madison. 

With safety being a major concern for the women of Delhi, My FM went ahead and distributed pepper sprays to women employees of these agencies.The idea behind the street theatre is to give women a sense of empowerment and instil confidence in them, while work towards bring about a change to ensure their safety at home, work place, while travelling and especially those living alone.

The play highlighted the issues around gender inequality, lack of respect for women and their safety. The message behind the theatre was that women should be treated equally and the society should change its outlook towards them.

Speaking on the occasion, My FM CEO Harrish M Bhatia said, “At a time when women are feeling unsafe and the nation is marching towards a change, it is important that as a responsible station we stand by them and empower them.The activity resonates My FM’s brand philosophy ‘Jiyo Dil Se’ – inspiring women to live life on their own terms.”

Theatre-in-Motion believes that theatre, which is an amazing amalgamation of all art forms, touches our lives in more ways than one. They use theatrical expression to take socially strong messages to the people and using street theatre format (Nukaad Naatak) for impact.

Lodestar- UM general manager Vaibhav Singh Jadon said, “The entire activation was very encouraging and reassuring about the initiatives My FM is doing. My heartiest congratulations to them on the initiative and I am sure it will deliver very well when it comes to safety and women empowerment.”  

Madison Media Plus business director Somnath Sarkar said, “It’s a wonderful performance that these guys have put up with a lot of energy and they have touched upon a subject which we are facing and are trying to find solution to these problems.They wonderfully touched upon these things and it’s not only on women’s day that we should  focus on these problems it would be good if the society takes a conscious effort and moves in a direction to remove all this gender inequality which is widely prevalent in India today. A wonderful effort by My FM and truly goes with the kind of quality and stuff we expect out of them.”
