MUMBAI: Guitar Control.com, the musical instruction company, continues their relentless run of You Tube videos with this their latest release which is another lead guitar lesson, that is basically all about diatonic arpeggios. For those that don’t know, an arpeggio is when notes from a chord or scale are played in sequence by themselves, rather than at the same time. Although they aren’t too difficult, beginners may find them a bit challenging and that’s of course what this lesson is for.
The insightful instructor in this clip is Rob Compagna, who happens to be one the newest additions to the company’s versatile team of great guitarists. However, not only has Rob been playing for around 30 years now, he was teaching for quite a while as well before joining Guitar Control, so he’s no newbie whatsoever. In this video he conveys some info that may be very effective for anyone that is looking to improve their lead guitar skills.
Furthermore, since being able to play arpeggios can sometimes be considered an essential ability for a guitarist to have, these sorts of exercises can be an excellent vehicle for getting to that point of proficiency. In fact, this guitar lesson focuses on 2 octave arpeggio shapes and 4 kinds of them to be exact, including the major, minor, dominant, and minor b5, which are all played in what’s called the 7th.
