MUMBAI: loudbytes, a company that connects digital music and media to merchandise announced today a groundbreaking agreement with music reporting agency Nielsen SoundScan. The deal establishes a new framework for digital music downloads to be sold with an almost endless variety of merchandise using loudbytes download codes and online redemption platform. Under terms of the agreement, products that come with loudbytes music download codes can now be sold in the physical world as digital singles, EPs, and albums and will be counted as sales by SoundScan.
Artists and record labels can buy customized merchandise from loudbytes including buttons, stickers, patches, key chains, t-shirts/apparel, coffee mugs, and more that come with music download codes. They can also purchase just the music download codes themselves, which includes use of the loudbytes redemption platform, and attach the codes to their own merchandise using hangtags or sticker. Each code is redeemable online for a digital music single, EP, or album specific to each artist and their merchandise. Music is stored on loudbytes’ servers and delivered in an MP3 format to consumers when they redeem their music download code on the loudbytes website.
With this agreement, sales will be counted via SoundScan when customers redeem the download codes that come printed on, adhered to, or attached with the merchandise product they purchased. loudbytes and SoundScan have devised a formula so that almost any piece of physical merchandise with a loudbytes’ music download code can be sold as a digital music single, EP, or album and count as an official sale.
