New Delhi: Led by guitarist John “Johny” Anthony, fusion band Karnatriix’s released thier new album ‘Namaste’.
When asked to describe the music on Namaste, guitarist Johny says, “In one word – trippy!” On a more serious note, Anthony adds,”Redefining the world of contemporary classical music with New Age groovy sound experiments”. Karnatriix’s music has elements of jazz, blues, rock, trance, funk, and classical sounds in perfect harmony with the Carnatic ‘kritis’ of Saint Thyagaraja Johny considers musicians such as John McLaughlin, Miles Davis, Johann Sebastian Bach and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan as his inspiration.
The album features Johny’s controlled guitar work along with Faiyaz Ahmed Khan’s sarangi, the percussions are by Darbuka Siva Karnatriix was widely acclaimed in July 2007 during the Friends of Live Earth concert in Chennai. Earlier this year they toured China and Hong Kong to very receptive audiences.
