MUMBAI: Anand Bakshi was a veteran lyricist who has contributed to umpteenth songs and his legacy still continues. He has written varied songs like Hum Ek Kamre Mein and Mein Shayar Toh Nahi from Bobby (1973) to Parda Hai Parda from Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), along with Mehbooba Mehbooba from Sholay to Na Koi Umang hai from Kati Patang (1970). In the more recent times, he has written the lyrics for DDLG, Pardes, Dil To Paagal Hai, Taal to name a few…
Anand Ji was associated with the industry for almost 40 years and contributed to more than 4000 songs and yet all his songs were instilled with freshness. He was a rare poet, one of those who could express love in a multitude of ways.
We will witness his bequest continue with Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai. The lyrics of the film are composed by Anand Ji and produer Ashim Samantha has acquired rights from Anand Ji’s sons to compose these songs. Anu Malik has composed for the romantic movie produced by Shakti Samanta’s banner Aradhana Films. Saregama had recently launched the music of the film.
Speaking on the occasion Anu Malik said, ‘I was working on the music of Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai when Ashim comes up to me and asks me to read a few lyrics… I loved it immediately. That is when he declared that the lyrics are by Anand Bhakshi. Anand Ji will always live in our hearts through his music. I shared a very close equation with him and it delights me to continue composing his lyrics. Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai is a passionate love saga and you need lyrics which emote. Anand ji’s songs are the perfect fit. I am glad we got the required permissions’
Producer Ashim Samanta said, “We are delighted to get rights for Anand Ji’s lyrics. Pyar Karna Na Tha will be the title track of the film and we are sure that the audiences will love the song.”
The movie is slated to release on 3 August.
