Ke$ha sets records with ‘TiK ToK’

MUMBAI: Ke$ha – the red hot pop sensation who has taken the world by storm – set the record for the biggest track sales week by any female artist in history (and #2 overall) when her debut single “TiK ToK” recieved 610,069 downloads. Additionally, Ke$ha, who co-wrote “TiK ToK” along with the rest of her debut album Animal,  also has the unique distinction of being featured on the only two tracks to ever sell over 500k singles in one week, “TiK ToK”, as well as Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round” the current record holder for biggest track sales week.

“TiK ToK”, which has the distinction of being the first #1 single of the new decade, is also enjoying it’s second week at #1 on the SoundScan Digital Songs Chart and Billboard Hot 100. On January 5th, 2010, Ke$ha, who the New York Times referred to as a “double threat” will release her debut album “Animal” (RCA Records / Kemosabe Entertainment), which is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon now

Since being released to radio in early October, “TiK ToK” is the No. 1 greatest airplay gainer at Top 40, outpacing smash singles by Jay-Z and Taylor Swift. The track has sold more than 2 million copies since its release on iTunes, while  the  accompanying video was an iTunes “Video of the Week” in early November and had remained in the iTunes video Top 10 since then. People Magazine dubbed “TiK ToK” a “Hot Download;” Rolling Stone added it to its “Hot List;” Entertainment Weekly put it in their “Bullseye” and Ke$ha has already graced the cover of Women’s Wear Daily.
Internationally, “TiK ToK” has topped the singles charts in 3 countries and has hit the Top 10 on iTunes in 18 countries thus far. With 8 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Australian singles chart and counting, 5 consecutive weeks at #1 on the New Zealand singles chart, and 8 weeks in the Top 10 on the UK single chart already under her belt, Ke$ha is primed for worldwide domination in 2010.
