MUMBAI: If you attended the NH7 Weekender festival in Pune earlier this year end 2012, you might have recognized the Bhojpuri Queen as the flamboyant front woman of the Trilok Gurtu’s band.
Kalpana Patowary – Assamese singer and Bhojpuri icon(BHOJPURI QUEEN), will be performing live in the Bandra Fort Festival this January 12th 2013, with Trilok Gurtu.
An excited Kalpana posted on her Facebook Page, saying, “Really looking forward to performing in Mumbai at Bandra Fort on 12th January 2013.
She is the voice behind Aila Re Aila in Akshay Kumar’s film Khatta Meetha and Tere Ishq Se Meetha in Ajay Devgan’s film Aakrosh.
Her latest release being the Bhojpuri musical documented album ‘The Legacy of Bhikhari Thakur’ released from EMI music, MASSICAL with world class India’s virtuoso percussionist and bandleader Trilok Gurtu in collaboration with international unique’ musicians like Carlo Cantini ,Jan Garbarek, Phil Drummy, Roland Cabezas, Stefano Dall’Ora released from BirdJam Label in Germany & Times Music in India and Rhythmic Dialogue from Free Bird Records with Fazal Qureshi – brother of Zakir Hussain @ Taufiq Qureshi and son of Alla Rakha Khan.
Most recently she performed for Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival in Pune on 3 November 2012 as the flamboyant front woman of the Trilok Gurtu’s band.
The event will begin at 6 pm and complimentary invites can be collected on a first come first serve basis from the Times of India Office, Dr. D N Road, Fort from 10 am to 6 pm.
Kalpana recently featured in a collaboration with Trilok Gurtu, Sheldon D’Silva @ Nitin Shanker in Blue Frog and the 2nd day of The Dewarists Stage in Bacardi NH7 Weekender Pune 2012.
January will see her play at the iconic Bandra Fort Festival in Bandra Mumbai.
Kalpana already has round 350 studio albums to her credit. Her previous release “The Legacy of Bhikhari Thakur” have spawned great response from fans and critics alike.
