India Today a leading general interest magazine, in a research conducted in August has selected RJ Dheena, of BIG 92.7 FM among the top 20 young achievers of Tamilnadu!
With a humble beginning from Salem, Dheena has through his commitment and dedication become a household name of Chennai – through the companion that he has become of the local populace A mechanical engineer by qualification, it was his passion for radio that led him to try his hand at RJing as a profession, and since then there has been no looking back. Commenting on being chosen by India Today, an elated but extremely humbled BIG Dheena said, I am extremely thankful to India Today for recognizing me as an achiever. I have worked hard, and it is my passion and zeal for radio that keeps me wanting to come back each morning to entertain Chennai and be their companion. I go beyond just connecting with them from behind the mike, but also go all out and meet with them on the streets of Chennai or in their homes. Connecting with listeners gives me a high and keeps me going. I look forward to continuing to connect with the city and entertain them each morning on BIG 92.7 FM….
Dheena has entered into the Limca Book of World Records in 2007 hosting a show for 92.7 hrs. In 2008 he broke his own record by repeating the same for an incomparable 168 hrs (7 days), which got Chennai its first entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. Dheena has utilized his iconic status and fame for pressing issues on global warming, education awareness and many others that requires the much needed attention from the masses. The drive and perseverance to give back to the society is what has got acclamation from India Today group.
