MUMBAI: IIM Lucknow, known for its hectic academic rigour, industrial projects and management research, recently had a different kind of workshop for its students – a music workshop. The workshop aimed at creating a holistic understanding of music as a separate genre and the participants specially enjoyed the different nuances of drums and guitar.
Three.Four (3.4) Club, a student run music club at IIM Lucknow, organized a guitar and drums workshop. The objective of the workshop was to reinvigorate passion in the budding musicians of tomorrow and inculcate interest in the amateurs. With the rising interest of the students in star-ups, this could provideyetanother option for students to take up, as budding entrepreneurs.
Professional tutors who have played live at various musical nights took the two hours workshop. The drums session was taken by Sagar, from the popular Rock band â€?Aaveg’ and the guitar session by Bhavya, from â€?Onstage’ at Lucknow. The guitar session was especially popular among the students.
The session covered basics from different kinds of guitars to the different kinds of genres played by popular guitarists. The session was not about theory only. Members of student-run Three.Four Club, who have professional experience in music, gave live performances on the guitar to explain these genres.
The drums session was full of passion as Sagar played different styles of foot-tapping music and explained the working of a complex instrument like drums in a simple to understand language. The sessions ended with questions from the students. More than two hours workshop was virtually a feast for the students.
IIM Lucknow with its large number of committees and clubs, offers enough opportunities to unwind and recharge creatively. The Music workshop was one such event which witnessed activeparticipation by the students – music afficados and non-musicians alike.
