MUMBAI: DFX Radio gives Spotify users full access to the power of the ExploreMatch music recommendation engine. After selecting an artist, DFX Radio uses ExploreMatch to generate an extensive playlist of songs from recommended similar artists.
In addition, the user can adjust the innovative DFX Radio “Explore Level” control. At Explore Level setting one, the playlist will contain songs by artists that are more likely to be familiar to the user, while at a maximum setting of five, the playlist will contain songs the user may not have heard but will very likely enjoy. This makes DFX Radio a great tool for music lovers to explore and discover new artists and songs.
The ExploreMatch engine provides detailed popularity rankings of all songs and artists based on real world listening habits. This enables DFX Radio to recommend the best songs from each artist.
DFX Radio can also be set to “Artist Only” mode. The detailed popularity rankings of the ExploreMatch engine allows DFX Radio to create a playlist of that artist’s songs fully ordered by popularity, making it easy to listen to the best songs of a selected artist.
Sten Garmark, Director of Platform at Spotify, said: “ExploreMatch is a fantastic recommendation engine and the DFX Radio Spotify app will help people to discover more music. What we love about this app is that they can choose how adventurous they want to be with their discovery!”
Mark R. Kaplan, Explore Systems Inc.Vice President, added: “DFX Radio on Spotify provides a great showcase to introduce our ExploreMatch engine and we think users will really enjoy using it to discover new artists. The Explore Level setting also is engaging to use as you can go from “mild” to “wild” in the recommended artists.”
An API for the patent-pending ExploreMatch engine is available and unlike competing music recommendation systems there will be zero net cost for use of the ExploreMatch API in music applications.
