MUMBAI: The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is pleased to announce Blue Rodeo as the 2012 inductees to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Spanning nearly three decades, Blue Rodeo has sold in excess of four million records and won an unprecedented 11 JUNO Awards, establishing themselves as one of the premier groups in Canadian music history. On Sunday, April 1, 2012, Blue Rodeo will be honoured at the 41st Annual JUNO Awards broadcast on CTV from Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON.
Blue Rodeo has been making music together for nearly thirty years. They’ve sold over four million albums, won 11 JUNO Awards and can now add Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees to their growing list of impressive accomplishments.
Blue Rodeo joins the likes of Bryan Adams, Neil Young, Anne Murray and The Band (to name a few) in The Canadian Music Hall of Fame (CMHF) this year. The CMHF was established in 1978 and recognizes Canadian artists that have attained commercial success while having a positive impact on the Canadian music scene here at home and around the world.
Back in 1984 Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor founded Blue Rodeo, though they had played together in some capacity since 1977. They were joined by Bazil Donavon, Bob Wiseman and Cleave Anderson and Blue Rodeo was born. From humble beginnings playing shows in pubs and nightclubs to the big stage of The JUNO Awards, Blue Rodeo continues to hit the road and connect with their fans. The group has put out 12 albums over their illustrious career and remains one of Canada’s most successful acts.
Blue Rodeo, now comprised of Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor, Bob Egan, Bazil Donavon, Glenn Milchem and Mike Bogusi, will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame on April 1 at The 2012 JUNO Awards ceremony in Ottawa, ON.
