Big 92.7 FM’s Hyderabad Station, in its continuing efforts to take-up social issues, that affect the lives of the people of Hyderabad, is focusing on Global Warming as one of the key issues that is sure to affect us. Given the festivities around Sankranthi, the Station is flagging off its campaign through a Rangoli – one of the most popular art forms of India, communicating the message through a â€?bold’ and â€?bindaas’ expression. Thanks to thousands of Hyderabadis led by RJ Shekar who took the initiative this Sankranthi to form the biggest Rangoli at People’s plaza, Necklace Road. Also joined the cause was renowned film actors Bhoomika Chawla, Bindu Madhavi of â€?Avakai Biryani’ fame and students of Ashray Akruti.
A one-of-its-kind, this Rangoli was drawn in the shape of India’s map with a tri-color layer of orange, white and green saplings uniformly laid down on a red soil base. The event received overwhelming response from people across all walks of life especially college-goers and IT/ITES employees who thronged the place to lend their support for the cause. Each sapling was tagged with a message card to write solutions to fight against planet’s greatest enemy Students were holding placards which read â€?Save the World, Stop Global warming’. To bring in theme â€?green’ into the event, BIG FM RJ’s went LIVE from a Green studio installed at the venue. The impact and commitment of the campaign continued in peoples’ heart when they took these saplings home to nurture and cherish the greener and safer â€?Greater Hyderabad’. The on-air promotion of the campaign started a month back where in listeners were asked suggestions to curb this global menace. Thousands of SMS’s were received in response.
Commenting on the campaign, RJ Shekar said, By participating in huge numbers, Hyderabadis have shown tremendous response to â€?Save the world, Stop global warming’ campaign. The problem of global warming is man-made and if we don’t wake-up now to control it, our coming generation will suffer to its dangerous affects. We are a people’s station and here we strive to highlight people’s issues and expressions through our bindaas programming, and Rangoli is the best expression against global warming It’s the most joyful way of celebrating Sankranthi….
