MUMBAI: Leading Telecommunication Company, Airtel and global music group, MTV have made released the tickets for the 2010 MTV Africa Music Awards with Airtel (MAMA) into Nigeria and several other markets in Africa.
The Tickets are expected to sell like hot cakes when they go on sale in Nigeria on Saturday 27 November 2010.
MTV Networks Africa’s flagship music event, will take place for the first time ever in Lagos on 11 December 2010 at the Eko Expo Hall, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Show which will feature performances from African music giants Teargas (South Africa), Banky W (Nigeria), Daddy Owen (Kenya), Fally Ipupa (DRC), 2Face (Nigeria), DJ Arafat (Ivory Coast), Cabo Snoop (Angola), Jozi (South Africa), Wande Coal (Nigeria) and P-Unit (Kenya) as well as US hip hop sensation Rick Ross, is a sure-fire sell-out.
Standard tickets for the exclusive annual music awards event will go on sale at select outlets throughout Lagos from 27 November. According to the organisers, the tickets are expected to sell out within 24 hours. MAMA tickets cost NGN7,000 Naira (general – standing).
Several Nigerian artists have been nominated for awards including the duo P-Square (Artist of the Year, Best Group and Best Video), the MAMA 2009 winner, 2FACE for the Best Male, Artist of the Year, Wande Coal for the Best Anglophone, Best Male and Banky W (Song of the Year, Best Video). Also, Nigerian female artists Nneka and Sasha were nominated for the Best Female while Mo Cheddah will slug it out with others for the Brand New artist award. D’banj, a four-time MAMA winner has been shortlisted for award in the Song of the Year category for his song, Fall in Love….
