MUMBAI: 92.7 BIG FM today kick-started their Chennai Day celebrations by organizing a 372 member human chain at Elliot’s beach (Besant Nagar). Mr. Kalairajan, MLA, T.Nagar, who was the chief guest of today’s event inaugurated the 372 member Human Chain where people took an oath to keep Chennai clean, green and preserve the heritage sites of our historical city. The human chain consisted of Actor Adith, Singer Ranina Reddy, BIG FM RJs, listeners and college students. Mr. Kalairajan, MLA, T.Nagar, honored the chain by being the 372nd person to complete the chain, while the Chennai Geetham was played in the background. Mr. Kalairajan also announced the BIG Chennaiite awards, which will be given to common people of Chennai who have done uncommon things to make the city proud, in a grand function which will be held on August 22, on the birthday of Chennai. BIG FM will also be honouring those who have made Chennai proud in the international arena in different spheres. In the run up to the finale on Aug 22, BIG FM will conduct heritage walk, quiz on Chennai city and an on air treasure hunt for its listeners.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kalairajan, MLA, T.Nagar, expressed his happiness to be part of the BIG FM celebrations by inaugurating it. He said, I am glad that BIG FM has come out with such an innovative celebration to commemorate the city’s birthday. I am sure that those assembled here will take home the message of keeping the city clean, green and preserve its heritage and spread it to others. This message becomes all the more important as our beloved Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has today announced a “Mass Cleaning Programme” to clean the city and suburbs of accumulated waste and clear storm and drainage water around residential areas….
BIG FM Chennai has been celebrating the birthday of Chennai in a grand manner since last year. A Chennai Geetham was composed by noted music director Paul Jacob, to the lyrics of lyricist Snehan was also played today at the event. The same has been sung by several playback singers and the song is an ode to our great and historical city.
