MUMBAI: Chinese telecom behemoth Huawei Telecommunications will invest up to Rs 175 crores in brand building and strengthening its retail presence in India.
According to agency report, the company’s India operation is targeting 10 lakh sales of smartphones in the next six months.
“We will invest around 8- 10 per cent of our mobile devices revenue in India. In 2012, our India revenue was $300 million. The spend would be mainly in strengthening our retail presence and brand building exercise,” Victor Shan, Huawei’s president — India device business development, said.
The company launched its phablet Ascend Mate –in India.
The Ascend Mate has 1.5 gigahertz quad core hi-silicon processor and 16 core graphic processing chipset. It has 2GB of RAM and is powered by 4,050 mAh battery. The smartphone runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and houses an eight megapixel rear camera and one megapixel front camera and a screen that can withstand a weight of 120 pounds (around 54 kilogramme).
The device will be available stores like Croma, Ezone and online websites like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Shopclues among others will retail for Rs 24,900.
