MUMBAI: The Magnets, A British Capella group, comprising of Nic Doodson (Bass), Callum McIntosh (Baritone), Duncan Sandilands (Bass), James Gibbs ( Tenor ), Matthew McCabe ( Baritone), Ball (Zee) along with the classical – crossover singer Natalie Di Luccio are geared up to set India on fire with their music. The tour is named The Magnets Feat.Natalie Di Luccio – India Tour 2017 conceptualized by AGP World. The band has performed at various venues across the world including the Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Jubilee. It has not only won a reputation as festival favourites from Edinburgh to Adelaide but was also the FM Pick of the Edinburgh Fringe Award four times. To add up to this fire power the collaboration with the Bollywood Soprano Natalie Di Luccio is bound to leave audiences to spell bound. The group’s maiden to India tour will be from 9 to 15 September.

During their first Indian tour, the Magnets plan to cover Mumbai followed by Bangalore and Delhi. We at Radioandmusic learned more about them from the director of the band Nic Doodson who is the oldest member of the band.

How did Magnets come up? Who is the master mind behind creating the band?

The band formed 22 years ago when some of the guys met at university at London. They decided to sing together in a place called Covent Garden in London where you can perform on the street for money; when the guys had earned enough money to go to the pub and buy a few pints they’d stop singing and start drinking! Several years (and many pints) later they graduated from university and decided to try and see if they could make a living singing….and here we are all these years later.

What is the tour all about?

Well it’s about amazing experience of Music from international chartbusters to Bollywood hits without instruments.

What is the set list for your visit to Indi?

We’ll keep it a secret which songs it will be, but we will perform some Bollywood too with some international chartbusters!

Are you looking forward to any collaborations in India?

Yes, we are collaborating Canadian Bollywood Play back singer Natalie Di Luccio. She will do the Bollywood hit numbers with us.

Are you looking forward to great stage shows in India?

We had a great response from the audience all over the world wherever we performed. We are of course looking forward to our first public tour in India.

How did the collaboration with Bollywood Soprano Natalie Di Luccio happen?

Our Indian promoter AGP suggested we partner with Natalie and when we met her we got along really well straight away. She’s an amazing talent and has done brilliantly to establish herself in Mumbai. In fact, she’s the perfect person to introduce us to Indian music and help us with the Indian music scene.

How was your experience performing at Buckingham Palace for the queen’s Jubliee?

Singing in Buckingham Palace for the Queen was special. It was her Jubilee and she had a concert in Buckingham Palace to celebrate. We were lucky enough to sing on the same stage as some of the biggest names in Pop for the Queen. We didn’t get to meet her, but still, we get to say we performed in Buckingham Palace.

What would be that one song that you would dedicate to India during your visit?

Well, that will be our last song, it’s quite special and can we keep it secret till the performance. We like to surprise the audience.

Tell us something about your upcoming tours.

After we leave India we will start preparing for some Christmas shows in the UK and then we are touring Australia in January 2018 – always busy!!

Is any album or single release under pipeline?

We released Counting Stars in 2014 and Can You Feel It? In 2016. That’s an album every three years which is about all we can manage because we do about 100 concerts per year so it’s all about finding the time.
