MUMBAI: Social networking site Twitter has partnered with SoundCloud and iTunes to launch an audio card feature. The feature will allow users to share various songs and other audio files through their Twitter account on mobile devices. It will soon be made available to iOS and Android devices.
Currently, the audio card services (through SoundCloud) is made available to several Twitter accounts including radio show- This American Life, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), The White House, French DJ/producer- David Guetta, record producer- Steve Aoki and Canadian electronic music duo- Zeds Dead. In the coming weeks, the cards will be made available to those who have posted their content SoundCloud. Users can “dock” the audio card to continue browsing Twitter, a feature that will be same for iTunes users as well.
iTunes will allow Twitter users to listen to select iTunes artistes and enable buying music directly.Twitter stated in a note that, “We are just beginning to test the Audio Card and plan to make it available to more partners and creators in the future so that many more musical artistes and creators will be able to share exclusive, in-the-moment audio to millions of listeners on Twitter.”

The first set of musicians to take advantage of the audio card was rock band Foo Fighters, hip-hop artiste Chance The Rapper, Guetta, Guy Sebastian, George Ezra, and several others.
SoundCloud’s blog stated that the music service was excited to be working with Twitter as it is a platform that is making audio cards available to everyone, from global superstars to bedroom beatmakers.
The micro-blogging site previously partnered with SoundCloud in 2012 for the desktop version of the Twitter audio card.
