MUMBAI: Delhi thunderstorms have affected three FM radio stations operating in Delhi. These include BIG FM, Hit FM and Radio One. Two days have passed since the thunderstorm brought down a transmission tower in the city, leaving the stations dead on-air. However, Fever FM and Oye FM, which were also affected by the calamity, are now back on-air with the help of some temporary set-ups.
Meanwhile, other FM radio stations like Red FM, Radio City and Radio Mirchi remained unaffected.BIG FM business head Ashwin Padmanabhan confirmed the news to Radioandmusic.com. He said, “The Friday storm affected the Delhi tower, but not all operators have been affected.” Refraining from commenting further, he assured that BIG FM will start functioning in next 12 hours.
Over week-end, Oye FM went on-air with a temporary set-up, but it will take almost a week before it goes back to permanent transmission towers, which is also the case with Fever FM.

Hit FM is currently off-air and is looking for ways to solve the problem. Sources stated that it would take a week before it could start working smoothly.
On Friday 31 May, thunderstorms lashed the capital city affecting transmission towers, metro services, flight operations, hitting power supply and crippling transport. There have been reports that suggest that at least nine people were killed in the region.
